The course provides an opportunity for students to obtain a solid foundation in information retrieval. The course will focus on text retrieval and web search in particular. Topics include design and construction of retrieval systems, retrieval models, and interactive information retrieval. Several advanced programming projects will be required of students as well as a final project.
