SOC 339 – SEM 0.50 – Course ID: 012613 – The Knowledge Society and Waterloo Region

Examines the theory and the practice of the “knowledge society”, the form of social and economic organization which has largely replaced industrial society. Along with examining sociological works on the knowledge society, the Region of Waterloo is used as a case study. This is both to better understand the concept of knowledge society from the case study, and to assess the ambitions of Waterloo Region to become a “knowledge capital.” Prereq: SOC 101 or 120R
