KIN 406 – LEC 0.50 – Course ID: 012967 – Physiology of Muscle Aging and Disease

This course will examine the cellular and molecular adaptations that occur in skeletal muscle during aging and disease. Topics to be covered include skeletal muscle satellite cells/stem cells, apoptosis and necrosis, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, and inflammation. The influence of physical activity on these biological processes and in the prevention and treatment of skeletal disorders will also be discussed. Prereq: BIOL 130; Level at least 3A
