This course explores modern methods in drug discovery through the use of case studies and the participation of industrial medicinal chemists as guest speakers. Although topics and cases will vary from year to year, they will explore the following critical areas: specific enzyme inhibitors as drug candidates, design and synthesis of combinatorial libraries, high throughput screening methods and natural products including manipulation of secondary metabolism for production of analogues of natural product drug leads.
