The basic principles of medicinal chemistry, toxicology, and pharmacology are introduced and examined in the context of the autonomic nervous system. Pharmacokinetics, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, pharmacogenetics, and the body’s response to drug compounds are also discussed. The tools and principles discovered are applied to specific disease states as well as physiological systems, including the visual and cardiovascular systems.
